Day 13 – Homeward Bound and Heart Reflections

After breakfast, we played a board game that was very competitive but so much fun! We also received beautiful Kenyan dresses, shoes, and bracelets. Of course, we had to try them on—and before long we were singing and laughing until our sides hurt. It was such a joyful way to spend the morning!

After dinner, we celebrated a birthday together, adding one more special memory to our trip. Then it was time to finish packing and prepare for our long journey home.

Loading 17 big suitcases plus cary-one and backpacks was quite the fete!  We finally made it through security!!

As we boarded the plane, there was a mixture of emotions—thankfulness for all we had experienced, sadness at leaving new friends behind, and excitement to be reunited with family and loved ones at home.

Final Reflection

Looking back on these past days, our hearts are full. We came to Kenya hoping to bless others, but we leave having been profoundly blessed ourselves. We saw God’s hand at work in every moment—through the prayers, the worship, the friendships, and the joy of serving together.

This trip reminded us that God’s love knows no borders. Though our languages, cultures, and daily lives may be different, we are united in Christ. The people of Kenya showed us faith lived out with joy and resilience, and that will forever shape how we walk out our own faith at home.

We return with renewed hearts, grateful for what God has done and eager to share His goodness. May the seeds planted continue to grow, and may this journey inspire us to live on mission each and every day.
