Day 7 – Worship, Giraffes, and a Little Rest



 Today we went to church at International Christian Centre Nairobi, and what a great experience it was! Praise and worship was powerful, the sermon was spot on, and the people welcomed us so warmly.


The message, Work as Worship, really resonated with us. We were challenged to consider: Do we work as unto the Lord in every area of life? Does our behavior consistently bring glory to Him, or would people be surprised to learn we are Christians? It was such a timely and relevant reminder for today.




After church, we grabbed lunch at an outdoor café before heading to the Giraffe Sanctuary. One thing we’ve noticed here is how hot the sun feels—79 degrees felt much warmer than it would at home! At the sanctuary, we learned there are 12 giraffes, and we each received a small coconut cup filled with food pellets to feed them. The giraffes were absolutely beautiful. Although we were warned that one of them has a tendency to head-butt visitors, thankfully none of us had that experience!





Once we got back home, several of us took a much-needed nap—right as the power went out. After about an hour it kicked back on, and later we ordered Domino’s pizza for dinner. It didn’t taste quite like it does in the U.S., but it was still a treat.


Today was a little slower paced, and honestly, I think we all needed the rest after so many busy days.

Days 1 & 2 – The Journey Begins

    After months of preparation, our journey has finally begun. What a whirlwind the past two days have been—20 hours in the air, spread across three flights, with three-hour layovers tucked in between. God’s hand was with us every step of the way. Each flight left on time, one even arrived early, and in the middle of it all, we crossed nine different time zones. It’s humbling to think how far He has carried us already. Sleep was scarce, but joy was abundant. We stepped off the plane a little weary, but the moment we walked into the airport, fatigue melted into excitement. Smiles, hugs, and warm welcomes met us, making us feel not just like guests, but like family. That kind of love after such a long journey is hard to put into words—it was a reminder that God prepares not only the way, but the people along the way. Day 3 – A Day of Learning, Fellowship, and Worship

  Today was filled with simple moments that turned into beautiful lessons. We started the morning with a trip to the grocery store. It was more than just shopping—it was a chance to learn about different foods and brands while stretching our math skills as we worked through the exchange rate 🤣. The girls decided they wanted to bless everyone with a spaghetti dinner, so they eagerly gathered ingredients. Estimating how much pasta to cook for twelve people became its own math challenge—and another great learning opportunity! After shopping, we had a few hours of rest. The girls took time to catch up on homework, while the rest of us enjoyed some quiet moments to recharge. This evening, our home came alive with fellowship. The girls began singing with two of the Kenyan ladies who had come by—it was so anointed and Spirit-filled!  Soon, the rest of the team from the center joined us.
